'Mother Earth Sister Moon'

As part of the 'Star City' exhibition at Nottingham Contemporary, Christian Tomaszewski and Joanna Malinowska's 'Mother Earth Sister Moon' (2009), the giant cosmonaut inspired by Valentina Tereshkova, was installed in 'The Space'. Visitors could go inside during February-April 2010 for free futuristic fashion shows, which had previously been exhibited in New York.

We took part in the shows as models, and got to see the costumes, inspired by Russian and Eastern European science-fiction films, such as Solaris, up-close.
The show took place earlier this year, and it was our first first-hand experience of a live fashion event. We loved the atmosphere behind the scenes and how the show was brought together, and hope to get involved at many more similar events in the future.
